State Karate Do Championship gets underway

Karatekas fighting-it-out during a State Championship in Jammu.

JAMMU, Sept 29: A  2-day long J&K State Shito Ryu Seiko Kai Karate Do Championship, 2012 got underway at Gandhi Bhawan, here today.
The Championship is being organized by Shito Ryu Seiko Kai Karate Do Jammu and Kashmir, under the aegis of All India Karate Do Federation (AIKF).
About 200 karatekas from different districts State are participating in the event and the participating districts include host district Jammu, Srinagar and Kathua.
Earlier, Sidharth Sharma, Joint  Secretary, J&K State Sports Council declared the championship open in an impressive function.
Anil Gupta Chairman, AKJK and Vice President of AIKF was the guest of honour, while Shyam Langer Senior Vice President Commerce and Industries presided over the function.
Ambedkar Gupta , the 4th Dan Black Belt and President / Style Chief Shito Ryu  Seiko Kai, Amit Sangra, President District Kathua Karate Association and Dr Mustafa Mir, instructor from Srinagar were also present in the occasion.
Meanwhile Ambedkar Gupta  informed that this sport has produced international stuff from J&K in Sahil Singh, Pallavi Sharma, Abhishek Sharma, Tushar Jandial and Sumit Sharma, who have brought laurels for the State.
Today’s medal winners: Boys below 7 Years Pool A ; Rohit Sharma, gold, Akshat Sharma, silver, and Dakshveer Gupta and Aadi, bronze.
Boys below 7 Years Pool B: Pranav Singh, gold, Uman Khan-silver, Anuj and Rananjay verma, bronze
Boys Below 8 Years  Pool A: Danish Ganjoo, gold, MA Mateen, silver, Akshat Gupta and  Ansh Kalsi, bronze.
Boys Below 8 Years Pool B: Sourish Sharma, gold, Mandela Chankaya, silver, Mohsin and Tushar, bronze
