KATHUA, Jan 31: Outplaying their rivals convincingly, Stadium XI Club Kathua and AMMC Gurgaon advanced into the next round in the ongoing Police Martyrs Memorial T20 Cricket Tournament, being played at Sports Stadium, here.
In the first match played today, Stadium XI Club Kathua defeated Sonipat Cricket Club (SCC) Sonipat by a big margin of 51 runs in a one-sided contest.
Batting first, Stadium XI scored a decent total of 130 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 9 wickets in the process. Mithu scored highest 27 runs and remained not out, while Shiv Dutt and Pankaj Ladda contributed 23 and 18 runs respectively to the total. For SCC, Saravjeet and Shivang took 3 wickets each.
In reply, SCC was bundled out for 79 runs in 18.5 overs and thus lost the match by 51 runs. Shahdeep (25) and Mor Munish (17) were the main scorers. For Stadium XI, Ankush was the wrecker-in-chief, who captured 5 important wickets by conceding just 8 runs in his 3.1 overs. Shiv Dutt and Himanshu bagged 2 wickets each. Shiv Dutt was adjudged as man of the match for his all-round show.
In another match (first Quarter Final), AMMC Gurgaon drubbed Gateway Cricket Club (GCC) Srinagar by 52 runs to move into the next round. Batting first, AMMC scored 158 runs in 20 overs. Raman (65) was the top scorer for AMMC while Manoj also contributed 34 runs to the total. For GCC, Irfan, Asif and Manzoor took one wicket each.
In reply, GCC was bundled out for a paltry total of 106 runs in 16 overs and thus lost the match by 52 runs. Sajaad top scored with 30 runs. For AMMC, Varun Khanna was the pick of the bowlers, who bagged 4 wickets by conceding 24 runs in his 4 overs. Sunil Dalal also took 3 wickets by just giving 7 runs. Raman was adjudged as man of the match for his superb batting display.
