JAMMU, Apr 29: Senior Group Chess Selection events started today in Jammu division selection tournaments, organized by ‘All J&K Chess Association’ at Nek Hotel, below Gummat, here today.
After winning all the four rounds, the highest rated player of J&K, young Soham Kamotra and many times State Champion, Sumit Grover were leading jointly with four wins out of four rounds.
What was delight to watch was that 60 years old man as well as 7 years old kid were playing in the same event.
Final round will be played tomorrow.
All the age categories events in boys will be held at same venue tomorrow.
Ravi Singh, Divisional sports officer, J&K Sports Council, Jammu is the observer of the tournament, while Anil Kotwal, Fide Arbiter conducted all the matches.
All the matches were held under the overall supervision of Atul Kumar Gupta, President All J&K Chess Association.
Selected players from these events will represent J&K State in forthcoming Nationals alongwith other selected players from Kashmir division, who will also be eligible for State Chess Championship to be held at Srinagar later.
