Sports top priority of State, Centre: Yudhvir

JAMMU, June 14: Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) Senior Vice President, Yudhvir Sethi today said sports not only generate a competitive spirit amongst sportspersons but also inculcates discipline in them and enables them to lead a respectful life.
He was speaking after witnessing exhibition matches of Gymnastics organized by J&K State Sports Council at MA Stadium, here.
Appreciating hard work of Gymnasts who displayed their talent, Yudhvir Sethi said gymnastics including that of floor exercises, rhythmic gymnastics, parallel bars, mounting horse and other such events displayed by young boys and girls calls for appreciation and encouragement.
Seeing the talent that youngsters possess, I strongly recommend that these gymnasts should be provided with world class infrastructure so that they could practice and perform at international arenas.
He said sports had never remained a priority for any government but this is for the first time that Union Government is building massive infrastructure to ensure more children take to sports and perform well.
The BJP leader earlier planted saplings in the stadium premises sending a message of protecting climate.
BJP leaders present on the occasion were Govind Sareen, Naresh Abrol, Anil Masoom, Ramparsad, Ravi Singh, Sunny Sehgal, Nipun, Swarn Singh, Sudhir Anand, Harbhajan Singh Gulshan, Suresh Abrol and Subash.
Later, Mr Sethi distributed gifts amongst the performers.
The prominent sportspersons present on the occasion were Krupali Singh (Arjuna awardee) Member, JKSSC, Satish Manager, ISC Jammu, S.P. Manager Mini-Stadium Parade, Manisha Gupta, Gysmantics Coach, Mitali (State Awardee) International Player, Palak Kour (State Awardee) International Player, Parul Mehra, International Player and many other national medalists in Gymnastics.
