JAMMU, Feb 25: The Department of Youth Services and Sports has formulated draft for ‘sports policy of the State of J&K’ in consultation with the J&K State Sports Council, Department of Physical Education University of Jammu, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, eminent sports persons of the State and other stakeholders. The main aim of the sports policy is to nurture the sports talent among the youth of the State and to prepare the youth of the State in all the sports disciplines for the national and international levels, providing sports infrastructure up to Gram Panchayat levels, making physical education compulsory from the elementary up to the university level for all the students and creating enabling environment for all the sports persons to excel at national and international levels.
The Draft Sports Policy is available on the website of Technical Education and Youth Services & Sports Department (www.dteyssjk.nic.in). The Department of Youth Services & Sports has sought suggestions from public, sports persons and other stakeholders for improvement and enrichment of the draft within 10 days so that Sports Policy of the State is finalized.
