Sports plays key role in harnessing hidden talent: Sham Chaudhary

JAMMU, Nov 26: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Chaudhary, today said that sports activities explore hidden talent among youth in general and sports aspirants in particular.
The Minister said this at an event organized by the Stephens International Public School to celebrate its annual sports day here today.
While highlighting the importance of sports, the Minister said that sports activities are essential in one’s life for his healthy physique and mind and plays a key role in exploring the hidden talents of the children, which needs to be further groomed so that these young aspirants can represent the state at national and international levels.
The Minister added that in modern Quality Physical Education programs have been proven effective in increasing physical activity levels of students and helpful to inculcate various good things like team leading spirits, tolerance and sportsmanship among them.
Later, the Minister unfurled the school flag and the declaration of the “Annual Sports Meet” open by marking the commencement of the ceremony. He also distributed awards among the meritorious students of the school for their curricular and co-curricular achievements.
Management of the School briefed the Minister about the achievement of the Institute.
Senior Officers of various departments including Police were present on the occasion.
