JAMMU, July 19: A dozen of sports-persons staged protest demonstration by holding placards over unlimited delaying in framing the Sports policy as well as delaying in recruitment under SRO-349 at MA Stadium, here today.
They urged Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to intervene into the matter, so that unemployed qualified sports-persons can get the benefit of the scheme as well as SRO-349.
While interacting with media persons, they said that the Union Territory Government has utterly failed to implement new Sports policy in committed time period, resulting of it, the International and National medallists are getting deprive to avail the benefit of the SRO-349.
They said, “If these Athletes are residents of other states they would have been got prestigious Government posts according to Sports policy of that state but unfortunately, they are citizens of J&K-UT and the UT has still no Sports policy.”
They alleged that BR Ambedkar had framed one of the world’s lengthiest Constitution, that too in less than three years but the premier body of sports (J&K Sports Council) has been failed to frame the policy since one decade which is highly shameful for officials of the Council. “Since 2014, under the same quota, the Council has not recruited a single person so far, which shows lackadaisical approach of the Government to deprive sportspersons from the benefits,” they added.
Arvind Satti, Padam Dev Singh, Sachin Jamwal, Anchal Sharma, Narinder Sharma, Rohit Sharma, Vipan Gupta, Haqeek Ahmed, Mohd Tariq, Jasbir Singh and many other were part of the protest demonstration.
