Sports Fest concludes at GDC Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, Feb 15: Four day long Sports Fest, 2020 concluded today at Government Degree College (GDC) here.
DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range, Surjit Kumar Singh was the chief guest. During the valedictory function, he said, “Whole Nation becomes jubilant and feels proud when a player perform to win a medal in any sports in an International event.”
He congratulated all the participating, winner and runner up teams, their management and organizers of the event.
In cricket GDC Udhampur outplayed GDC Ramnagar by 74 runs. Chasing a target of 149 runs GDC Ramnagar got bundled at a paltry score of 75 runs.
In Tug of War, the match played between GDC Ramnagar and Bhaskar Degree College Udhampur in which latter overpowered GDC Ramnagar by 2-1.
In Badminton (Men), GDC Udhampur outplayed GDC Reasi by 2-0 points while (Women) Government College Women, Udhampur defeated GDC Udhampur by 2-0.
In Table Tennis (Men), GDC Udhampur clinched trophy by defeating Bhaskar Degree College whereas in (Women), GCW Udhampur snatched win from GDC Udhampur.
53 teams drawn from two district of Reasi and Udhampur to take part in the event. All winner teams were honoured with medals and trophies by the chief guest in the concluding ceremony.
GDC Udhampur succeeded to win overall championship trophy. Matches were officiated by Ajit Singh, Kuldeep Kumar, Sanjay Sharma, Naveen Sharma, Swarn Deep Singh, Som Dev Khajuria, Rajesh Sharma of Department of Youth Services and Sports were also honoured.
Earlier. the program began with the formal welcome address by Principal, Prof (Dr) NK Resutra. He appreciated the efforts of the staff and PTI Shashi Kumar Sharma for making the event a grand success.
DIO Udhampur, Sajjad Sumberia, Ashok Khajuria, Chairman Bhartiya Group of Colleges, Kameshwar Puri KPS and Hemmat Singh were among the prominent of the event.
Convener College Sports Committee, Prof Suresh Kumar Dogra presented vote of thanks while Dr Rippy Bawa and Amit Sharma anchored the programme.
