SPMR holds program on ‘Drug de-addiction’

JAMMU, Sept 22: Government SPMR College of Commerce organized an awareness programme on ‘Drug De-addiction’ under the patronage of the Principal, Dr Surinder Kumar, here today.
Prof Barbara Kaul, HoD Commerce gave the formal welcome address and emphasized the need to create awareness about the ill-effects of drugs and to prevent the youth from this menace. She further stressed the importance of conducting such awareness programmes for prevention of drug abuse and encouraged the students to lead a healthy life and become the responsible citizens of the society.
An elaborated, well-explained interactive session on the topic ‘Drug de-addiction’ under the theme ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’ was delivered by the esteemed resource person, Dr Gurmeet Kour, Psychiatrist and De-addiction expert, Govt. Hospital Gandhi Nagar.
The resource person said that the event shared immensely useful information and gave insights into the disastrous effects of the use of all types of drugs. She explained in detail almost each and every cause and effect of drug addiction. She enlightened the faculty members and the students about the various ill-effects of drugs, how rehabilitation can be done and treatment of victims after rehabilitation.
She urged students to be the ‘Goodwill ambassadors’ who can play a vital role in creating a drug free India. Students participated in the event with full vigour and enthusiasm and made the session very interactive.
The session concluded with the pledge to refrain from drugs. The proceedings of the event were coordinated by Prof. Shreya Sharma and vote of thanks was extended by Prof. Rajni Bala.
