JAMMU, Feb 23: The Jammu and Kashmir Atya Patya Association (JKAPA) today organized a Candle Lighting Ceremony at Jammu Club.
The Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Mubarak Gul who is also Chairman of JKAPA was the chief guest on the occasion and Head of Anjimani-Ulmaie- Ahnaf Moulana Agzar Hussain was the Guest of Honour.
In his address, the Speaker said that the Government has taken several steps with an aim to strengthen the existing sports infrastructure for promoting the sports culture in the State. He said participation in sports gives a chance to a budding youth to show their talent and Government is ensuring every possible facility to encourage the sports Associations to polish the hidden talent of rural youth.
The Speaker said that there is no dearth of talent among the youth of the State but need is to channelize it in a proper way so as to enable them to compete at National and International levels.
Congratulating the JKAPA Members for taking steps to uplift this game in the State, Mr Gul advocated for popularizing this game among the youth and said that different Associations related to sports can also help to identify the hidden talent of the youth by organizing sports events at block levels. He called for organizing more and more sports events in the far-flung areas of the State. He said we have to work hard to make Atya Patya popular in the State. He said Atya Patya is the thrilling and ancient game of Indian origin and is very popular in the villages.
He announced that by this year the Association is going to organize two National Mega Events one each at Jammu and Srinagar in which more than 2000 players are expected to participate.
Head of Anjimani-Ulmaie- Ahnaf Moulana Agzar Hussain also spoke on the occasion highlighted the importance of education and co-curricular activities.
Besides, President, Dr Vinod Bakshi, other office bearers of the Association including Vice Presidents, General Secretaries, Treasurer, Advisor and executive members were present on the occasion.
