South Kashmir Sports Festival concludes

Srinagar, Dec 21: Police today said the South Kashmir Sports Festival organized by it concluded today and the finals of all events were played at Government Degree College Anantnag.
A police spokesman said, in Cricket, the final match of the event was played between Shopian and Anantnag in which Anantnag emerged as winners. In volley ball, the final match was played between Anantnag and Pulwama which was won by the Anantnag, he said.
The spokesman said the final match in carrom was played between Awantipora and Anantnag in which the former emerged as winner. “The chess final was played between Kulgam and Shopian which was won by the Kulgam. In Kho final which was played between Kulgam and Shopian, Kulgam emerged as winners,” he said.
The police spokesman added that the SQAY Martial Art was introduced in the festival for the first time in which the players from Shopian district displayed spectacular skill and won all the bouts in different categories.
In senior boys’ category, Hamid Rashid, Danish Aijaz, Jibran Hilal all from Shopian won the Gold in lower, middle and upper weight categories respectively. In junior boys’ category, Mahran Nasir, Shahid Hamid and Raja Younis Tak all from Shopian won the gold in lower, middle and upper weight categories respectively.
In sub-junior boys’ category, the gold was won by Muzamil Hamid, Naveed Tariq, Imran Inayat in lower, middle and upper weight categories respectively. The closing ceremony of the festival is being held by the end of this week where the winners/runners up will be presented trophies and merit certificates, the police spokesman added.
