JAMMU, June 20: Cueists Sourab Dogra and Ishan Choudhary with their impressive skills sweated veteran Player Vishal Abrol and last year’s District Champion Abhi Gupta respectively in their individual matches on Day-2 of the ongoing Open J&K State Six Red Ball Prize Money Tournament, being organized by the J&K Billiards and Snooker Association at Billiards Hall, MA Stadium, here today.
However, Cueists Akhil, Adnan, Kush Gupta, Vidit, Aseem, Sohail, Maqdar, Jaideep and Nitin with their stunning performances made it to the next round of the tournament.
In the first match, Akhil Verma smashed Sahil Dogra by straight 3-0 frames. In the first frame, Akhil registered win over Sahil by 48-15 points, whereas in the second and third frames, Akhil outclassed Sahil by 33-23 and 42-32 points.
In the second match, Adnan Loan beat Umar Sheikh by 3-1 frames. Adnan emerged winner in the first frame by 50-18 points, whereas in the second frame, Adnan again registered win over Umar by 38-14 points. In the third frame, Umar made a comeback by winning the frame by 45-30, but in the fourth frame, Umar lost to Adnan by 45-17 and paved way to Adnan to enter into the next stage of the tournament.
In the third game, Sourav Dogra beat veteran player Vishal Dogra by straight 3-0 frames. In the frist frame, Sourav Dogra emerged winner by 45-30 points, whereas in the second frame, Vishal played well but lost the frame by 33-24 points. In the third frame, Sourav trounced Vishal by 40-29 and registered berth in the next round of the tournament.
In the fourth match, Ishan Choudhary thrashed Abhi Gupta by 3-0 frames. In the first frame, Ishan registered win by 34-19 and in the second frame, Ishan exhibited excellent skills and registered win by straight 46-00 points. In the third and decider frame, Abhi lost to Ishan again by 43-25 points.
In the fifth match, Kush Gupta beat Samarth Amla by 3-2 frames. In the first frame, Samarth registered win by 36-21 points, whereas in the second frame, Kush lost to Samarth again by 49-28 points. In the third Kush Gupta made a comeback and won the frame by 43-33 points and in the fourth frame, Kush again proved mettle and won the frame by 36-09 points. In the fifth and decider frame, Kush Gupta again bounced back and emerged winner by 40-12 points.
In the sixth match, Vidit Gawri thrashed Sourav Sharma by straight 3-0 frame (28-21, 44-17 and 41-02), whereas in the seventh match, Assem Ghai registered win over Kandeep Singh by 3-0 frames (38-278, 36-02 and 65-09).
In the eight match, promising cueist Sohail Khalid crushed Furkan Wani by straight 3-0 frames. In the first frame, Sohail trounced Furkan by 42-21 points, whereas in the second frame, Furkan again lost to Sohail by 35-20 points. In the third frame, Sohail trounced Furkan by a huge margin of 36-05 points and registered berth in the next stage of the tournament.
In the ninth match, Muqdaar beat Abhinav by 3-0 frames (52-17, 37-22 and 48-35), whereas in the tenth match, Nitin Sharma outplayed Rohit Chib by 3-0 frames (34-25, 34-23 and 30-04). In the eleventh and last match of the day, Jaideep Manocha beat Gurjeev Singh by 3-0 frames (38-05, 43-09 and 40-21).
Marker Rakesh Sharma acted as scorer of the matches.
It is to mention here that around 40 cueists are vying for the coveted trophy.
