Soham bags gold as State Chess C’ship concludes

SRINAGAR, Oct 23: Ace Chess player, Soham Kamotra bagged gold as the State Chess Championship 2018 concluded at Sher-e- Kashmir Indoor Sports Complex, here today.
Haji Abdul Qayoom, Chief Sports Officer J&K State Sports Council was chief guest and distributed cash prizes, trophies and certificates among the participants in the presence of Ms Gazala Central Sports Officer J&K State Sports Council; Mushtaq Ahmad Zargar Manager Sher-e-Kashmir Indoor Sports Complex Srinagar; Masood Ahmad (City Field Officer) Srinagar; Shafat Shafi  (Assistant Manager /Judo Coach); Farooq Ahmad Dar Veteran Chess Player of the J&K State; Amin Mahajan (Manager).
On the occasion, Prize Distribution for Kashmir Province Chess Championship 2018 was also held, which had concluded earlier in the ongoing month, wherein participants  were also awarded with cash prizes, trophies and certificates.
8 players were selected in State Senior Category Chess Championship 2018, who will represent J&K State in Senior National “A” Chess Championship 2018  held at Jammu.
Soham Kamotra secured 1st position, Sumit Grover secured 2nd  position, Khalid Amin claimed 3rd  position, Shashi Pal Sharma secured 4th  position, Ajit Singh clinches 5th  position, Ankush Bhardwaj secured 6th  position, Adil Ashraf 7th  position and Ashutosh Jamwal bagged 8th  position.
