SMVDU organises 2-day workshop

JAMMU, Mar 26: A 2-day workshop on “Recent Advances in Genomics and Proteomics”, funded by Department of Biotechnology, Government of India is being conducted at School of Biotechnology, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra.
Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof Sudhir K Jain in his inaugural address, highlighted the significance  of research in the area of Bioinformatics and wished participants a fruitful technical workshop. He emphasized the need for collaborative research especially in the field of Biotechnology and encouraged young minds to choose this field by choice and get engaged in this active field of research which has solution to almost all the problems faced by human populations.

Dr Neel Sarover Bhavesh, Staff Scientist International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, New Delhi, Dr Vikram Singh, Central University of Himachal Pardesh, Gagandeep Singh from Institute of Himalayan Bioresource Technology (CSIR) Palampur and Dr Amit Nargotra from Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (IIIM)-CSIR Jammu are among the experts from various national institutions, while Dr Ekta Rai, Dr Narendra K Bairwa, Dr Swarkar Sharma, Inderpal Singh, Shagun from School of Biotechnology, SMVDU are the resource persons from SMVDU.
The aim of the workshop is to impart hands-on  training to the participants to the latest bioinformatics tools in use in various areas of biotechnology using state-of-art soft & hard-wares. Around 70 delegates from various institutions and Universities attended the workshop.
