SRINAGAR, Feb 11: Indian Institute of Skiing and Mountaineering (IISM) completed 4th Ski course at Gulmarg today in which more than 80 students from different parts of the country participated.
A concluding ceremony was held in which Gyan Bhushan, Economic Advisor, Ministry of Tourism was the chief guest who gave away prizes and certificates to the winners of different skiing events.
Many dignitaries including General TK Aich, Commandant Army School, RK Suman, DDG Administration from Ministry of Tourism, GOI were present to encourage the students who had come from different places including Delhi, Bengal, Pune, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Chandigarh along with students from Kashmir.
JS Dhillon of IISM welcomed Gyan Bhushan and other dignitaries and briefed them about the challenges faced by him to revive this defunct Institute of the Nation. “The Gulmarg is an International Ski destination and soon they will start international qualifying races once Gulmarg slopes are homologized and registered with International Ski Federation,” he said.
Gyan Bhushan appreciated the huge efforts put in by Dhillon and his team to revive this Institute and complemented them for providing world class training to the students.
He advocated to conduct more such courses in winter as well as summer in future to ensure cultural exchange amongst citizens of different regions of our country.
