JAMMU, Nov 11: Showing exuberance and technical skills of par excellence, the skaters (Speed) of Indian Hawks Roller Skating Club J&K brought laurels by winning 10 medals in the recently held CBSE North Zone Skating Championship at Fatehgarh Sahib, Sirhind, Punjab.
Those who got medals include Kartikeya Puri, (one Gold and one Silver), Samarjot Singh (two Silver), Tamanna Saini (one Bronze), Udhay Narayan Sharma (two Gold), Surya Bhaskar Sharma (one Bronze) and Puneesh Puri (two Gold).
While felicitating the medalist skaters in a function held here today, Arjun Gandotra, the ace international skater, Tarun Gandotra Vice Captain of Team India Inline Hockey and Dhruv Pant President of Indian Hawks Roller Skating Club lauded the young roller hawks on their pointed achievement which has changed the course of budding skaters in Jammu as earlier the number of medalist skaters was scanty and insignificant.
Arjun Gandotra said that the marvelous performance and stamina shown by these skaters has raised hopes that J&K will soon touch the height of speed skating in national arena as well. Dhruv Pant and Tarun Gandotra extended their best wishes and wholehearted support to Indian Hawks Club members and also the budding skaters of Jammu.
Ajay Sharma, a parent of two champion skaters Udhay and Surya appealed to the management of aforesaid club to continue with its unrelenting support towards young skaters to help them to maintain winning spree in the upcoming events.
Later, he presented vote of thanks.
The Club and parents of the budding skaters also congratulated Arjun Gandotra and Tarun Gandotra for representing India as the Captain and Vice Caption of Team India (Inline Hockey) earlier in the month of July at the World Roller Games 2019, held at Barcelona.
The achievers of CBSE North Zone championship have also been selected for CBSE National which is going to be held at Belgaum later this month.
