KARGIL, Mar 10: Single Star Trespone thrashed Titi Chumeek in the finals and claimed the title trophy of the Kargil Archery Tournament, being organized by Ladakh Archery Development Association Kargil (LADAK) at Khree Sultan Choo Stadium here today.
During the match, Single Star scored 32 points, whereas Titi Chumeek scored 27 points and thus lost the match by just 5 points.
Mohd Ali of Single Star Trespone was adjudged man of the match and Abass Jan of City GM Pore was adjudged as the man of the series.
Acting Chief Executive Councilor (CEC), LAHDC, Kargil, Haji Ghulam Amir Kamran was the chief guest, who distributed prizes among the winning and runner-up teams.
While speaking, Haji Amir appreciated the role of LADAK for the development and promotion of traditional Archery, which is amongst one of the sports played in Kargil from generations.
He stressed on the need of proper implementation of Modern archery in the District.
Talking about the promotion of sports by the LAHDC Kargil in the last four years, he told that the Council has started work on the International Ice Skating Rink Kurbathang, Ice Skating Rink Drass, Polo Promotion Development Infrastructure in Drass, Pavilion at Khree Sultan Choo Stadium, Snow Ski Slops of Drass and Kargil etc. investing crore of rupees.
Earlier, Secretary, LADAK Kacho Mohammad presented the welcome address and gave a brief overview of the Association and its activities.
About tournament, he said that 92 teams participated from all over the District and expressed their skills.
Among others present were Councilors, District Officers, citizens and sports lovers.
