JAMMU, Apr 11: Singh Lions Akhnoor outplayed Akhnoor Avengers by 9 wickets in the opening tie of the Akhnoor Premier League U-17 Cricket Tournament, which commenced at Ground Higher Secondary School Akhnoor, here today.
Electing to bat first after winning the toss, Akhnoor Avengers scored 99 runs by losing all the wickets in 20 overs. Paras made 26 runs off 40 balls, Ujwal made 16 runs in 19 balls and Taruwar chipped in 13 runs in 11 balls.
For Singh Lions Akhnoor, Dhoni clinched 3 wickets, while Arun, Neeraj and Sachin shared 2 wickets each. Nanit pocketed 1 wicket.
In the second inning, Singh Lions Akhnoor chased the target in 10.1 overs by losing only one wicket. Binay Singh played a magnificent inning of 51 runs off 29 balls, while Nanit Radhay made 17 runs in 19 balls and Sachin scored 16 runs in 12 balls.
For Akhnoor Avengers, Mohit was the lone player who took one wicket.
Binay Singh was adjudged as Man of the Match.
Earlier, Rakesh Malhotra Councillor Ward Number 6 Akhnoor, Deepak Manni Councillor Ward Number 10 and DN Abrol Ex-President MC Akhnoor inaugurated the Tournament.
Others present on the occasion were Sham Singh Langeh General Secretary JKCA District Jammu, Davinder Chanan, Dr Romesh Kashyap, Sushil Sharma, Sunita Devi, Rajinder Sharma, Raman Gupta, Raman Sharma, Parveen Kumar, Sunil Kumar (Bendy), Deepak Mangotra and Rajesh Sharma.
The Tournament is being organized by Singh Cricket Club Akhnoor under the supervision of Sham Singh Langeh General Secretary JKCA District Jammu.
