JAMMU, June 28: Singh Challengers defeated Ajeet-X1by 5 wickets, whereas Friends Cricket Club Akhnoor got better of Babatalab CC by 8 wickets in the ongoing 1st Anil Malhotra Memorial Knockout Cricket Tournament, organised at Govt Higher Secondary School Akhnoor, here today.
The first match was played between Singh Challenger and Ajeet X1, wherein the latter won the toss and decided to bat first.
Batting first, Ajeet-X1 scored 179 on the loss of five wickets in stipulated 20 overs in which Sunny made 83 runs while Shindi scored 29 runs and Aman contributed 26 runs. From the bowling side, Rajinder Sharma got 2 wickets, while Sonu Malhotra and Rahul shared 1 wicket each.
In reply, Singh Challenger chased the target easily by losing only 5 wickets in 18.4 overs wherein Bhupi made 49 runs, while Rahul and Rajinder made 38 & 19 runs respectively and Vinay contributed 16 runs. From the bowling side, Ashwani and Sanju shared 2 wickets each and Ravinder got 1 wicket. Rajinder Sharma was declared as man of the match.
In another match, Friends Cricket Club Akhnoor beats Babatalab CC by 8 wickets.
Batting first, Babatalab CC put 143 runs on the scoreboard by losing all wickets in 17.2 overs, wherein Ajay Sudan and Kavi made 32 & 27 runs respectively. From the bowling side, Jeshu and Shubam shared 3 wickets each, Sumit Sharma got 2 wickets and Rahul and Amit shared 1 wicket each.
In reply, Friends Cricket Club Akhnoor chased the set target easily with the loss of only 2 wickets and registered 8 wickets win over their opponents in 13.1 overs. Manik Sharma made 63 runs, while Shobnam made 28 runs and Sunil Govil scored 23 runs.
Manik Sharma was adjudged as man of the match for his outstanding performance, whereas Vikas Bali and Manav Mehta were umpires, while Dev Bhagel acted as scorer.
The tournament is being organized by Shub Tilak Hospital Akhnoor in collaboration with Singh Cricket Club Akhnoor under the overall supervision of Sham Singh Langeh (President Singh Cricket Club Akhnoor) and Suresh Malhotra (Organizing Secretary).
