JAMMU, Jan 20: Singh Cricket Club and Jammu Stars Club registered emphatic wins to stay alive in the 4th Eid Diwali Christmas T20 Cricket Cup for students and youths of the State, which played at Parade Ground , here today.
The tournament in which 24 teams are participating is being organized jointly by Jammu and Kashmir Police Department, Simula Sports Club, Atman Sports Club and Christian Sports Organization.
The Organizing Committee includes Hilal Rather, Sanjay Mahajan,Rajesh Gill, David Mattoo, Asif Gill, Rajesh Dhar, RP Singh, Sunil Sambyal and Sunny Gill.
The slogan of the tournament is “Khelo Khushi Sey- Par Nasha Mat Karo”.
Earlier, Pawan Parihar, SSP CID Jammu was the chief guest in today’s matches who was introduced with the participating teams.
While speaking on the occasion he conveyed his best wishes to the participating players for their best performance in the tournament.
In the first match Singh Cricket Club defeated Jammu United Club by 6 wickets.
Batting first, Jammu United XI scored 114 runs in stipulated 16 overs, with Majid (40) and Sameer (17) were the main scorers. Sunny and Binny took 2 wickets each ,while Sham and Pankaj took 1 wicket each for Singh Club.
Singh Cricket Club, in reply achieved the target in 14.5 overs by losing 4 wickets thus won the match by 6 wickets. Sunny was the top scorer with 54 runs, while Rahul contributed 27 runs. Sameer, Saqib, Nayeem and Majid shared 1 wicket each for their team. Sunny was adjudged as man of the match.
In the second match, Jammu Stars Club scripted a thrilling win against JK Warriors XI.
Batting First JK Warriors Club scored 145 runs for all wickets in allotted 16 overs game with Sahil 46 runs, Naseem 29 and Raju 21 were the main scorers , Micky took 3 wickets each , while Sunil Sambyal took 2 wickets and Shubkaran took 1 wicket for Jammu Stars XI.
Jammu Stars Club chased the target in last over of the game by losing 7 wickets, thus won the match by 3 wickets. Atul top scored with 48 runs, Irshad 26 runs and Sunil Sambyal made 20 runs for the team. Satish and Kapil took 2 wickets each, while Pankaj took 1 wicket. Atul was adjudged man of the match .
The matches were officiated by Sandeep Manchanda, Vinod, Madan Lal and Danny.
In tomorrow’s fixture, KC Club will take on Tawi Cricket Club at 8.30 am, Christian Sports XI will face Bahufort Club at 11.30 am and Simula Sports XI will meet Shahenshah Club at 2.15 pm.
