Simula to face Horizon in Winter Shield T20 Cup final

JAMMU, Apr 6: Defeating their rivals convincingly in their respective semifinals, Horizon Club Samba and Simula Cricket Club sealed berth in the finals and will take on each other in the title clash of the ongoing Winter Shield T20 Cup, being organized by State Cricket Academy (SCA) of J&K State Sports Council under the supervision of its Secretary Dr Naseem Javaid Choudhary at Parade Ground, here.
In the first semifinal, Simula Club thrashed Jammu Cricket Club (JCC) by a big margin of 79 runs.
Batting first, Simula Cricket Club scored 169 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Puneet Kumar top scored with 47 runs, while Atul and Akash contributed 27 and power-packed 24 runs respectively. From JCC, Sushant took 2 wickets, while Aman and Jatinder claimed 1 wicket each.
In reply, JCC collapsed at 90 runs in 16.1 overs, thus lost the match by 79 runs. Jatinder top scored with 22 runs, while Gourav contributed 13 runs to the total. From Simula, Sahil took 4 important wickets, while Ritik bagged 2 wickets. Akash Choudhary, Raman Dutta and Kuldeep Kumar claimed 1 wicket each. Sahil was declared as the man of the match.
In another match, Horizon Samba defeated Diamond Cricket Club by 53 runs.
Batting first, Horizon Samba scored 163 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Kannav (65) and Akhil (53) were the main scorers. From Diamond Club, JP took 3 wickets, while Gurvinder and Sarabjeet took 1 wicket each.
In reply, Diamond Cricket Club scored 110 runs in 18.4 overs to lose the match by 53 runs. Manpreet (22) and Inder Singh (14) were the main scorers. From Horizon, Brijesh took 3 wickets, while Prithvi and Sukha claimed 2 wickets each. Kannav took 1 wicket. Kannav was declared as the man of the match.
The matches were officiated by Vijay, Dayal and Ashok Singh.
The 2nd exhibition match between Media XI and Secretariat XI will be played from 11 am tomorrow.
