JAMMU, Feb 23: Simula Cricket Club thrashed Zeharan Gladiators by 8 wickets in the ongoing 50-overs Chief Minister’s Cricket Cup, being organized by Country Cricket Academy in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council at Gharota, here.
The Tournament is being played in the memory of former Chief Minister, Late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, under the supervision of Director Country Cricket Academy, Vikrant Sharma.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, Zeharan Gladiators scored a modest total of 157 runs in 42 overs. Gowhar top scored with 25 runs, while Mushtaq contributed 20 runs to the total. For Simula Cricket Club, Hilal Rather was the pick of the bowlers, who took 4 important wickets, while Vikram Singh, Shashi Kumar and Raman Dutta claimed one wicket each.
In reply, Simula Cricket Club chased the target in 25 overs, losing 2 wickets in the process, thus won the match by 8 wickets. Hardeep Singh top scored with 60 runs, while Atul Sharma contributed 53 runs to the total. Hilal Rather also scored valuable 25 runs. All three batsmen played with fluid grace and utter brilliance and hit a series of boundaries. For Zeharan Gladiators, Yasir took 2 wickets. Hilal Rather was adjudged as man of the match for his brilliant all-round display.
The match was officiated by Ashok Singh and Rajinder Sharma as umpires, while Lakshaya was the scorer.
In tomorrow’s fixture, Baramulla Cricket Club will take on Krishna Sports Club Khour at 9 am.
