Simula Cricket Club wins 5th Road & Safety T20 Cricket Tournament

JAMMU, Feb 10: Trouncing Road & Safety XI convincingly by 5 wickets in the summit clash, Simula Cricket Club lifted the title trophy of the 5th Road and Safety T20 Cricket Championship at KC Sports Club ground, here today.
Vikas Sharma, Joint Transport Commissioner was the chief guest on the concluding ceremony, while cricket promoter Hilal Rather, MD Simula Group of Companies was the guest of honour.
The chief guest and the guest of honour along with the Organising Secretary of the Tournament, SSP RK Bhat distributed prizes among the winners and runners-up teams on the occasion.
Earlier, batting first, Road & Safety XI scored 99 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Irshad top scored with 27 runs, while Rompy Sharma, Maqsood, Sahil and RK Bhat contributed 15, 13, 11 and 10 runs respectively. From Simula Club, Sahil Sharma, Ritik and Raman Dutta took 2 wickets each, while Akash Choudhary, Kuldeep Kumar and Manjeet claimed one wicket each.
In reply, Simula Cricket Club chased the target in 13.3 overs by losing 5 wickets, thus won the match by 5 wickets. Satish Kumar top scored with unbeaten 42 runs, while Atul Sharma contributed 12 to the total. Arvind took 3 wickets from Road & Safety XI. For his brilliant batting display, Satish Kumar was adjudged as the man of the match and best batsman of the tournament, while Kuldeep Kumar was adjudged as the man of the series. Majid was declared as the best bowler, while RK Bhat claimed the best fielder title.
The match was officiated by Dayal Singh and Vijay Raina, while Commentator Rajesh Dhar conducted proceedings of the concluding function.
