KATRA, Jan 20: Master Gourav Sharma, a student of 12th class of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Gurukul, Charan Paduka, Katra, has won Gold Medal at the national level Kavya Kanth Path in the 55th All India Sanskrit Shastric Contest which was recently held at Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, Eklavya Campus, Agartala, Tripura.
Master Shubham Sharma of 10th class and Master Anish Sharma of 9th class won the Vashishath Awards in Amarkosh Kanth Path and Ashathadhyai Kanth Path, respectively at this national level competition.
Master Gourav Sharma was presented with a Gold Medal, Trophy, Certificate and Rs.10, 000, while Shubham and Anish were awarded a Certificate and Rs 1500 each.
It may be recalled that Master Gourav Sharma had also won the first prize at the national level Jyotish Shilakha Pariksha at 54th All India Sanskrit Shastric Contest held last year at Sri Venkateswara Vedic University, Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh and was presented with a Gold Medal, Gold Shilakha, Certificate and Rs.10,000.
Governor N N Vohra, Chairman of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, has congratulated Master Gourav Sharma, Master Shubham Sharma and Master Anish Sharma, on their outstanding performances at the all-India Sanskrit Declamation Contest.
Ajeet Kumar Sahu, Chief Executive Officer of the Shrine Board, informed that the four students of the Gurukul: Master Gourav Sharma, Master Shubham Sharma, Master Nand Lal and Master Anish Sharma had stood first in their respective events at the State level competition organised in October 2016 by the Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, Kot Bhalwal, Jammu, which had enabled them to participate in the national competition at Agartala and three of these four students have won awards.
Babua Narayan Mishra, Acharya of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Gurukul, had accompanied the students to Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, Agartala, for participating in the all India level contest.
It is pertinent to mention that 8th class students of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Gurukul have been securing the first position in the Sampurnanand Sanskrit Vishvavidyalaya, Varanasi, for four successive years and winning the Vakratund Gold Medal.
Pankaj Gupta, Dy. CEO of the Shrine Board and Administrator of the Gurukul, informed that presently 136 students are studying in 6th to 12th class in this fully residential Gurukul, which was established by the Shrine Board in 2010. All the students are provided education, boarding, lodging, uniforms, books and other required facilities at the cost of the Board.
