Shopian TT C’ship concludes

SHOPIAN, Sept 7: Shopian District Table Tennis Championship, organised by District Table Tennis Association under the aegis of J&K Table Tennis Association and sponsored by J&K Sports Council, concluded at Government Higher Secondary School Zainapora Shopian, here today.
About 55 players including boys & girls participated in the event which was organised with an aim to engage the youth of Shopian in the Table Tennis and inculcate the spirit of sportsmanship among them.
Riaz Ahmad, DySP Headquarter Zainapora was chief guest, whereas Gazala, Sports Officer J&K Sports Council was the guest of honour of the event. They distributed the medals and trophies among the winners and runners besides appreciated the players for active participation in the game.
Mohd Shafi, secretary District Association, Parvaiz Bhat, Shahid Wani and Junaid Reshi were the members of the organising team, whereas Kaiser, Hanan and Arsalan were officials of the championship.
In sub junior boys, Hanad Ali emerged winner while Taha Kursheed of NIPS remained runner-up, whereas in sub-junior girls, Atiya Khan and Tanzila of NIPS stood winner and runner-up respectively and in junior boys category, Muslin and Mubassir Rashid got 1st and 2nd positions respectively besides in junior girls, Zafera Zahoor of NIPS Zainapora got first position while Arshika clinched 2nd position, whereas in senior boys, Basit Bin Afzal of GDC Pulwama remained runner-up and Dr Faisal Suleh Hayaat of Ratnipora scripted win.
The championship concluded with the vote of thanks, presented by Parvaiz Bhat.
