Shivanti, Tomar slam cracking fifties to guide J&K to big win over Bihar

Jammu, Oct 18: Silencing their critics, Shivanti Gupta and AN Tomar cracked power-packed half-centuries to guide Jammu and Kashmir to a big 95-run win over Bihar in the ongoing Senior Women’s T20 Trophy at Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati today.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, J&K openers Shivanti Gupta and AN Tomar began in style and hit a series of boundaries in the first six overs to give their side a brisk and solid start. The duo made an opening partnership of 105 runs, before explosive Rubia Syed hit power-packed 7-ball 18 runs to help J&K score formidable 141 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 2 wickets in the proces. Shivanti scored 56 runs off 49 balls, studded with 6 crispy boundaries, while Tomar smashed 59 off 62 balls, including 6 delectable boundaries. Rubia chipped in with 18 off 7 balls with the help of 2 sixes and one four. Rifat Choudhary remained unbeaten on 3 runs.
For Bihar, P Priya claimed one wicket.
In reply, Bihar managed to score paltry 46 runs to lose the match by a big margin of 95 runs. Nikky Kumari (10) was the only batter to score in double figures.
For J&K, Bismah Hassan and Nadia Choudhary bagged 2 wickets each, while skipper Sandhya Sayal and AN Tomar claimed one wicket each. All the J&K bowlers hit good areas and bowled with a nagging line and teasing length.
The J&K team is being accompanied by Chetan Dhingra as Head Coach, Irshad Hassan as Manager, Meenu Singh Slathia as Assistant Coach, Anuradha Sharma as Co-Manager, Sushil Pajnu as Video Analyst, Lovely Bansal as Physiotherapist and Rohit Rana as Strength and Conditioning Coach.
