Shivani Charak wins gold in National Sport Climbing C’ship

JAMMU, Jan 8: Shivani Charak, the Golden sport climber of J&K, opened the account for the Union Territory by winning a gold medal in Bouldering in the Women’s category of the 25th National Sport Climbing Championship being organized at Kalinga Stadium, Bhuvneshwar.
Earlier, Shivani had entered the final round by securing the 4th position behind Pratiksha of South Zone, Shreya Nanker of West Zone and Anwesha of East Zone, among the 6 finalists.
However, in the final round she bounced back like a champion and toppled all the three to become National Champion in Bouldering. Patiksha and Shreya Nanker, both international climbers, bagged the Silver and bronze medal respectively.
In Lead climbing also Shivani has entered the final round by topping the 15 m high fibre glass wall and securing the first place among the eight finalists. Final round shall be held tomorrow
Meanwhile Shivani’s younger brothers Ajay Deep and Arun Deep Singh (twins) have also qualified for the final rounds in Bouldering and Lead Climbing.
While Ajay has secured 1st place in the bouldering and 7th in Lead climbing in the semifinal, Arun has finished at the top in Lead climbing and has also qualified for the final round in Bouldering by clinching the 5th spot among the 6 finalists.
