JAMMU, Feb 8: Outplaying Dhoni Cricket Club by a narrow margin of 4 runs in a thrilling summit clash, Shastri Cricket Club Jammu lifted the title trophy of the Jammu Premier League T20 Cricket Tournament at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here today.
Earlier, batting first, Shastri Club scored a modest total of 122 runs in the stipulated 20 overs.
In reply, Dhoni Cricket Club managed to score 118 runs in the allotted 20 overs, losing 5 wickets in the process, thus lost the match by 4 runs. The team needed to score 4 runs to win on the last ball of the match and the bowler bowled a short rising delivery and restricted the batsman to score any runs. Rana was declared as man of the match, while Irfan was adjudged as man of the series.
Vijay Bakaya, Ex MLC, Political Advisor to NC president was the chief guest on the occasion, while Bhushan Lal Bhat, mk Yogi, Anil Dhar, ML Munshe, Bal Krishan Bhat, Amit Koul, Ramesh Bharti, Pintoo Ji and Amit Koul were the guests of honour.
Mr Bakaya distributed prizes among the winners and runners-up teams on the occasion. The winners were presented a cash prize of Rs 15, 000, while the runners-up team was given Rs 7,000 as a cash prize.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Bakaya stressed upon the Cricket Authorities to nourish the talent of budding cricketers by catching them young, coaching them and providing them opportunity to play more and more matches.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were C L Chrangoo, Dhruv Mahajan, Abhay Bakaya, Bitoo Ji and Vicky Pandita.
