JAMMU, Aug 31: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Sharma today called upon the people particularly youth to be equally conscious about their rights and duties to grow as responsible and disciplined citizens. He stressed that everyone must discharge his duties as a good citizen if he wants his country to grow and prosper.
The Minister stated this at a prize distribution function organized by the J&K sports and Karate Do Association. Director Tourism, Jammu, Soujanyan Sharma, Senior Manager, PNB, Sanjay Sharma and Dr Amit Jain were also present on the occasion.
While Speaking on the occasion the Minister said that the education is a powerful tool that develops the desired and desirable values in younger generation. He said education is not merely acquiring knowledge and skill but it must also inculcate moral values and a sense to understand the culture and heritage. He highlighted the role of extracurricular activities particularly the importance of sports in the overall personality development of the youths and appreciated all the winning players for their meritorious skills and congratulated them for receiving the awards. He further added that this journey of achievements in the field of sports should not stop here and this process should proceed ahead continuously.
He said such sports disciplines help in self defence which is need of the hour.
The prizes were also distributed among winners of XVI Karate tournament held at Ghazibad.
Shihan Bhasker Sinouvassane from Pondicherry who conducted two days Karate do seminar to teach new techniques to player was also honoured during the aforesaid function.
Director Tourism, Jammu in his address said that sports activities play a vital role in infusing the sense of well being in sports persons and Karate has also an important role in the field of sports activities.
Among others Brijesh Bhau, Chief Technical Director, Vinay Gupta, President Rotary Club Jammu, Dr Dushyant Choudhary, president, Amandeep Singh, Senior Vice president, Kartik Gupta, Vice president, Naresh Chander Joint Secretary of the association were present on the occasion.
