KARGIL, Nov 1: The Shahidi Cricket Cup T-20 tournament at Khri Sultan Cho Stadium, Biamathang is organised in the memory of brave hearts of Indian Army and Kargil Awam who laid down their lives during the Indo- Pak wars of 1947-48, 1965, 1971 and the Kargil Conflict of 1999.
The tournament which is underway has 16 teams of various sports clubs and schools of Kargil district and will culminate on Nov 7, 2015. The aim of this cricket tournament is to inculcate sportsmanship, camaraderie and team spirit amongst the youth of this region besides further developing faith and mutual respect between Army and the local populace.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by various Army and Civil dignitaries and also by a large number of locals of Kargil district.
