Poonch Link-up Day celebration

POONCH, Nov 12: Shaheed Bhagat Singh Hockey Club emerged winners by defeating Khelo India Hockey Club by 3 goals to nil in the ongoing Hockey tournament being organised by Indian Army to celebrate the 75th Poonch Link-up Day, here today.
Gamanpreet scored 2 goals and Taranpreet scored 1 goal for the winning team.
It is pertinent to mention here that in the year 1947-48 Indo-Pak war, Poonch sector was totally isolated by enemy forces. After one year of isolation on November 22, 1948, the troops led by Brig Yadunath Singh along with Brig Pritam Singh’s troops liberated the Poonch from the clutches of the enemy.
The match was officiated by Mukesh Kumar, Ranveet Singh, Sunil Raina, Mohd Shokat, Narinder Singh, Rajinder Singh Toofan and Harmik Singh. Sanjeev Kumar (Executive Member Hockey J&K), Narjeet Singh (Retd ZPEO) and Vijay Kumar (PEM) were also present on the occasion.
The tournament is organised by the Indian Army in collaboration with J&K Sports Council, Hockey J&K & DYSS which was technically supervised by Mukesh Kumar, Navjot Singh and Matinderpal Singh (Hockey Coaches).
