Semis position cleared as J&K faces Delhi today

JAMMU, Apr 29: Semifinals position has been drawn in both the sections of the ongoing 21st North Zone Handball Championship, being organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Handball Association at Mini Stadium, Parade Ground, here.
The teams which qualified for the last four stage in men’s section are J&K, Delhi, Punjab and Haryana, while Delhi Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and Chandigarh qualified for the semifinals in the women’s section.
Now, J&K take on Delhi and Punjab will lock horns with Haryana in the semifinals in men’s section, while in women’s section, Delhi will take on Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh will meet Haryana in the semifinals tomorrow.
Earlier, Haryana defeated Himachal Pradesh by 15 goals (35-20) in men’s section, while in women’s section, Chandigarh defeated J&K by 6 goals (21-15) and Haryana got better of Punjab by 16 goals.
Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab defeated their rivals convincingly in the men’s section, while Delhi emerges victorious in the women’s section.
Earlier, in the morning session, the first match in men’s section was played between Delhi and Punjab in which Punjab defeated Delhi by 6 goals (34 -28). The main scorer from Punjab was Manpreet who scored 10 goals, while the main scorer of Delhi was Ramesh who scored 8 goals.
In another match of men’s section, J&K defeated Himachal Pradesh by a big margin of 16 goals (27-11). Happy was the star performer from J&K who scored 7 goals. The main scorer of the Himachal Pradesh was Kapil who scored 5 goals.
The third match in women’s section was played between Delhi and Punjab in which Delhi defeated Punjab by 20 goals (25-5). The main scorer from Delhi was Rohni, who scored 8 goals, while the 4rth match in women’s section was played between Chandigarh and Himachal Pradesh, wherein Himachal Pradesh defeated Chandigarh by a margin of 8 goals (26-18). Shelza scored 7 goals for Himachal , while the main scorer from Chandigarh was Anushka who also scored 7 goals.
