SRINAGAR, Sept 30: The selection trials for Pencak Silat ahead of the 3rd Asian Youth Games Bahrain 2025 were held today at the Sher-i-Kashmir Indoor Sports Complex (SKISC) in Srinagar, drawing participation from promising athletes across the country.
The trials were conducted under the supervision of a high-profile Selection Committee comprising Mohammad Iqbal (Chairman), Vinod Kumar (Haryana), Abhay Shriwas (Madhya Pradesh), Prem Singh Thapa (Odisha) and Aqsa Gulzar (J&K). Athletes were evaluated based on their performances in previous international tournaments, junior national championships, national coaching camps, and final trial rounds.
To ensure transparency, Sonu Kumar, Observer from the Sports Authority of India (SAI), monitored the entire process. Irfan Aziz, Chief Coach of India, also attended the trials to motivate the athletes.
The selected players will now participate in a 15-day intensive coaching camp under renowned Indonesian coach Suhud Indranto, in preparation for the prestigious continental event. The Indian Pencak Silat Federation expressed strong confidence in the team’s ability to perform well at the Games.
