Secretary flags off J&K team for National Hockey C’ship

JAMMU, Oct 18: Secretary J&K Sports Council, Nuzhat Gull today flagged off J&K team at Jammu Railway Station for the participation of Senior National Women Hockey Championship, which is scheduled to be held at Jhansi (Uttar Pradesh) from October 21 to 30, here.
The Secretary while speaking to players said that the women are the power of future India. She urged the team to perform with discipline and give their best during the championship. She advised the players that discipline and strength is the key to success and instructed the coaches and players to strictly follow the rules of Hockey India.
President Hockey J&K, Rajeev Sharma thanked the Secretary for her kind encouraging words for the team. He said her words will boost the morale of the team and will improve the performance of the team. Dr Taran Singh, general secretary Hockey J&K was also present on the occasion along with the parents of the players.
The team was selected after the 21 days rigorous training camp which was conducted recently by Hockey J&K in collaboration with J&K Sports Council. Senior Hockey coaches including D Singh, Jagjit Singh and Anjali Thakur were deputed by the Council for imparting training to the players during the camp.
Jagjit Singh and Priyanka Singh are part of the team as coach and manager respectively along with 18 players who were flagged off today from the Jammu Railway Station.
