JAMMU, Mar 20: Indian Institute of Skiing & Mountaineering (IISM) completed its 6th ski course at Gulmarg in which 14 local youth sponsored by J&K Scouts and Guides also took part.
Over 80 students including students from the State and from across the Country graduated in an impressive ceremony.
Shabir Ahmad Wani, Assistant Director Youth Services and Sports was the chief guest on the occasion, while GM Dar, Tourist Officer was guest of honour, who gave away the prizes to the winners of different ski events.
JS Dhillon, the Principal of IISM welcomed the chief guest and briefed about the various activities being undertaken by the Institute.
He said Institute has provided the best platform to the youth of the Nation especially the youth of Kashmir to not only learn the skill of skiing but also develop their overall personality, adding that the Institute trains hundreds of youth every year.
14 youth form Kashmir were sponsored by J&K Scouts and Guides under the leadership of Farooq Renzu Shah a social worker.
In a separate function he honored the Scouts who completed the course and gave them medals of success.
Mr Wani said that the Institute under the leadership of Mr Dhillon has gained new heights and is now one of the best ski schools in the South East Asia.
He said the facilities provided by the Institute are world class and it has best equipment and a centrally heated building.
Students who were part of the course were very happy and praised the excellent facilities of training and administration provided to them by IISM.
The Institute is planning various summer adventures courses in the coming months.
