Scouting promotes camaraderie: Slathia

SAMBA, Sept 6: Former Minister and Senior State Vice President National Conference Surjeet Singh Slathia today said that scouting promotes camaraderie among young people and helps build a harmonious society based on inclusiveness, amity and mutual understanding.
Inaugurating 2-day Bharat Scouts and Guides Camp at B.B Institute of Intellectuals at Samba this morning, Slathia exuded confidence that such events will help foster fellow spirit and brotherhood among the participants and eventually lead to the harmonious growth of the society.
The former Minister said the young people have an onerous responsibility towards nation building and by holding such camps opportunities are made available to them to share each other’s experiences and learn various skills that place them in good stead to help others during the times of distress, as also to benefit themselves in their later lives.
Slathia stressed the need for expanding scouting activities for bringing more youth under its ambit so that the objective of this world-wide movement is achieved optimally. He said such a massive youth programme is needed to be encouraged in a big way for inculcating value based leadership qualities and ensuring character development of the youth. “By such activities, young people can grow into responsible and well rounded citizens, who can play their crucial role in making the nation and the State best places to live in”, he added.
On the occasion, guest of the honour, I D Soni, Commissioner, Bharat Scouts and Guides, Jammu and Kashmir spelled out the activities of this great movement in the state and said the encouraging feature is that youth are showing immense enthusiasm in these activities.
Prominent among those present on the occasion included Sham Saroop Co-Ordinator  Bharat Scout and Guides J&K besides Chairman  B.B. Institute of Intellectuals Sandhya Bharti, Principal, Dimple Sharma. Also present were Sham Pal Singh Slathia, distt Co-Ordinator Bharat Scout and Guides  Samba, R.P.Singh Kotwal,  Harcharan Singh, Harbinder Kour and Doli Gill  Trainer Bharat Scout and Guides.
