SCC drubs VCC by 7 wkts in high scoring game

AKHNOOR, June 26: Hosts Singh Cricket Club (SCC) Akhnoor drubbed Vijayanta Cricket Club (VCC), Akhnoor by 7 wickets in a high scoring game to advance in the ongoing 5th Pawan Memorial T20 Cricket Tournament, being held at Government Higher Secondary School Ground, here.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, VCC powered by a brisk knock of 68 runs, studded with 5 fours and 4 sixes by Sunil Sharma, scored a big total of 179 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 6 wickets in the process. Deepak Sharma and Chander Kiran contributed 33 and 25 runs to the total respectively. Both the batsmen hit 2 fours and 2 sixes in their knocks. Aasif was the pick of the bowlers for SCC, who claimed 3 important wickets, while Sham Singh Lengeh, Dilawar Singh and Ravi Kumar took one wicket each.
In reply, SCC scored the required runs in 18.1 overs by losing 3 wickets in the process, thus won the match by 7 wickets. Chandan Sharma top scored with an unbeaten knock of 68 runs off 37 balls, which included 7 boundaries and one massive six. Sunny Kumar contributed 38 off 22 balls with the help of 3 boundaries and equal number of sixes, while Sumit Rajput chipped in with 35 off 23 balls, which included 2 fours and 2 sixes. Raman bagged 2 wickets for VCC, while Chander Kiran claimed one.
The match was officiated by Vikas Bali and Joginder Magotra as umpires, while Varun Kumar was the scorer. The tournament is being organized by Singh Cricket Club Akhnoor, under the supervision of its chairman Shyam Singh Langeh, organizing secretary of the tournament.
