Satwari zone faces Bhalwal in U-17 boys’ cricket final

JAMMU, May 16: Registering convincing victories over their rivals in the semifinal clashes, Satwari zone and Bhalwal zone have sealed berth in the finals of the District Level Inter-School Under-17 Boys Cricket Tournament, being organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports at MA Stadium, here.
Earlier, in the first semifinal, Satwari zone defeated Jammu zone by 5 wickets in an easy contest. Batting first, Jammu zone scored a modest total of 106 runs in 16 overs. Kanahya scored brilliant 67 runs, while Sanchit Dass contributed 17 runs to the total. For Satwari zone, Pavit Singh was the pick of the bowlers, who scalped 3 important wickets by conceding 20 runs in his 3 overs.
In reply, Satwari zone chased the required target in 14 overs by losing 5 wickets, thus won the match by 5 wickets. Vivrant top scored with 39 runs, while Rahul contributed unbeaten 32 runs to the total. Satvik Kohli took 3 wickets by conceding 19 runs in his 3 overs for Jammu zone.
In another semifinal, Bhalwal zone got better of Miran Sahib zone by 16 runs in a low scoring match. Batting first, Bhalwal zone scored a meagre total of 89 runs in the allotted 15 overs, losing 5 wickets in the process. Sandeep Sharma and Aditya scored 19 runs each. For Miran Sahib zone, Ashu took 2 wickets, while Usman claimed one.
In reply, Miran Sahib zone managed to score 73 runs in the stipulated 15 overs by losing 9 wickets, thus lost the match by 16 runs. Gaganjeet (17) and Usman (16) were the main contributors. Pranav and Sandeep took 2 wickets each to help his team seal berth in the finals to be played tomorrow at the same venue. Suresh Singh and Madan Mohan accompanied the Bhalwal zone as coach and manager respectively.
