Sandhu Club, Khanna CC register emphatic victories

KATHUA, Jan 28: Outplaying their rivals convincingly, Sandhu Cricket Club Ludhiana and Khanna Cricket Club, Khanna advanced into the next round in the ongoing Police Martyrs Memorial T20 Cricket Tournament, being played at Sports Stadium, here.
In the first match played today, Sandhu Cricket Club defeated Shabnam Cricket Club Hoshiarpur by a big margin of 76 runs in a one-sided contest.
Batting first, Sandhu CC scored a decent total of 166 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 5 wickets in the process. Bhagvinder was the top scorer with 66 runs, while Anil contributed 47 runs to the total. For Shabnam CC, Laddy took 2 wickets each.
In reply, Shabnam CC was bundled out for 90 runs in 17.5 overs, thus lost the match by 76 runs. Monty (33) and Karanvir (23) were the main scorers. For Sandhu Club, Gourav was the wrecker-in-chief, who captured 4 important wickets by conceding 17 runs in his 3 overs, while Bhagvinder bagged 3 wickets. Bhagvinder was adjudged as man of the match for his all-round show.
In another match, Khanna Cricket Club drubbed J&K Police by 39 runs to move into the next round. Batting first, Khanna Club scored 144 runs in 19.4 overs. Bobby, Harjot and Sagar contributed 33, 28 and 24 runs to the total respectively. Sanju took 3 wickets for J&K Police, while Kuljeet and Gopal claimed 2 wickets each.
In reply, J&K Police was bundled out for a paltry total of 105 runs in 17.5 overs, thus lost the match by 39 runs. Sanju top scored with 22 runs. Harpreet was the pick of the bowlers, who bagged 4wickets by conceding 15 runs in his 4 overs. He was adjudged man of the match for his superb bowling display.
