Sandeep, Shivani donate 50 percent award money to TT

JAMMU, Aug 3: Everester Sandeep Singh and international sport climber, Shivani Charak who have been honoured with J&K Government Award for Outstanding Sport Persons donated 50% of the cash Award of Rs 51000 to their parent Club Tawi Trekkers J&K in a function held at Press Club of Jammu, here today.
Shivani Charak was the lone sportsperson of J&K to be awarded with the J&K Government Award for the year 2020, while Sandeep was the lone sportsperson of Jammu division to receive the honour for the year 2021.
While the contribution from Sandeep Singh who is serving in the Indian Navy was accepted gracefully by the Club, the donation from Shivani Charak was greatly appreciated but humbly declined, she being a student.
Sandeep said that he was pleasantly surprised and impressed when ace sport climber Shivani Charak, though a student, also announced to donate 50% of her award money to the Club. Sandeep Singh, however, requested that his small contribution may be utilized by the Club preferably for the promotion of short treks for the budding trekkers.
Office bearers of Tawi Trekkers J&K expressed their gratitude to the distinguished mountaineer for his kind gesture of donating award money to the Club.
