JAMMU, June 2: Splendid 33 runs by Abdul Samad and a superb 4-wicket haul by Sanchit Dass was not enough for Jammu District to overpower Kulgam in the ongoing State Level Inter-District Under-16 Boys Cricket Tournament, being organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports in Srinagar.
District Kulgam won the match by 2 wickets in a thrilling contest.
Earlier, batting first, Jammu scored a modest total of 115 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Samad top scored with 33, while Pavit and Kanahya contributed 25 and 21 runs to the total respectively.
Kulgam reached the target on the last ball of the match by losing 8 wickets, thus won the match by 2 wickets. For Jammu District, Sanchit Dass was the pick of the bowlers, scalping 4 important wickets by conceding 22 runs in his 3 overs, while Rohit Kumar, Pavit Singh and Vivrant claimed 1 wicket each.
