JAMMU, Oct 14: Sainik School, Nagrota and BSF School Paloura today opened their medal tallies by winning gold medals on the first day of the School Olympics.
Sainik School Nagrota won the Gold in Javelin Throw event of Athletics, being held at BSF Campus, Paloura. Stanzin Paljor, a student from Leh, did the honour for Sainik School, Nagrota.
Sajid Ali from BSF School Paloura won the gold in Boys’ High Jump event. Besides, KC International opened its tally with Silver medal.
KV No-2, Jammu Cantt and SOS Hermann bagged Bronze medals in Athletics. SOS Hermann School entered the finals of Girls Hockey and Girls Football being played at KK Hakku and GGM Science College respectively.
SOS defeated APS Domana in penalty shoot out to reach the finals in Football, whereas they defeated Presentation Convent by 2-0 to reach finals of Hockey.
Army School, Akhnoor defeated GHSS, Canal Road to reach the semis of Girls’ Hockey. In Boys’ Football, KV No 2, SRML Parade and DPS Jammu moved to next round.
In Girls Basketball, Jodhamal Public School did not allow KC International to score a single basket and moved to next round. APS Akhnoor and APS Kaluchak also moved to next round comfortably.
In Boys’ Basketball, APS Kaluchak, Domana, Jammu Cantt and KV No 2 entered next stage.
First round matches of Kabaddi girls, Volleyball boys and girls were also held at MA Stadium. First round matches of Badminton, girls and boys were held in Jammu University and Police Lines respectively. Events of 100 meters (boys) and 800 meters (boys) were held in Athletics.
SDM, Jammu, North, Avny Lavasa was the chief guest at Medal Ceremony at BSF Campus, Paloura.
