SRINAGAR, July 8: Saifco Lions and Khazar Royals registered convincing wins over their rivals in the ongoing Big-GK Jammu and Kashmir Corporate Premier League (JKCPL) at Kashmir University Grounds and Bijbehara Sports Stadium, near here.
Earlier, in the first match, Saifco Lions defeated Ahad Sultans by a narrow margin of 15 runs.
Batting first, Saifco Lions scored a modest total of 137 runs in 18 overs. Wajahat was the top scorer with 46 runs, while Haseeb Shah contributed valuable 42 runs to the total. For Ahad Sultans Umar Majid scalped 4 wickets, while Umar Mumtaz bagged 3.
In reply, Ahad Sultans were bundled out for 122 runs in 18 overs. Vishwajeet Singh scored brisk 26 runs off just 9 balls with the help of 3 sixes, while Tariq contributed 21 runs to the total. For Saifco, Mohd Rafiq took 3 wickets, while Asim claimed 2.
In another match at Bijbehara Ground, Khazar Royals defeated Tramboo Panthers by 2 wickets.
Put into bat, Tramboo Panthers scored 120 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 9 wickets in the process. Syed Sagar slammed a brilliant half-century, scoring 52 runs off 29 balls with 5 fours and 4 sixes, while Arshid Bhat contributed 23 runs to the total. Vijay Dogra was the pick of the bowlers for Khazar Royals, claiming 3 important wickets, while Rahil Singh bagged 2 and Arshad Sheikh one.
Khazar Royals, in reply chased the target in 18.4 overs by losing 8 wickets, thus won the match by 2 wickets. Jalil Bhat (35) and Sajad Sofi (31) were the main contributors. For Tramboo Sultans, Syed Sagar, Muntazim and Salim bagged 2 wickets each. Jalil Bhat was declared man of the match and Syed Sagar was awarded for hitting maximum number of sixes.
