JAMMU, Apr 18: Senior Women hockey team of J&K was flagged off by S M Sahai, ADGP Armed and Working President Hockey J&K from KK Hakhu Astroturf Hockey Stadium Jammu to participate in the 5th Hockey India Senior Women national hockey Championship 2015, being held at Safie in Uttar Pradesh from April 20 to April 29.
While interacting with the players, Mr Sahai discussed various issues regarding welfare of women hockey in Jammu and Kashmir and stressed the need for popularizing the game among women in all districts especially in Kashmir valley.
Kits were also distributed among the players on the occasion.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were IGP Mukesh Singh, Romal Singh, General Secretary Hockey J&K, Rajinder Singh, Treasurer and GS Bakshi, Secretary, besides hockey coaches Dilbir Mehta, Joginder Singh, Veena Chib, Gurmeet Kour, Charanjeet Singh, Gurjeet Singh and Jagjeet Singh.
The team: Baljeet Kour, Chitra, Anjali, Gargi, Radha Rani, Amandeep Kour, Sunita Rani, Meenakshi Khajuria, Barkha Sharma, Urvashi Sharma, Afshana Khatoon, Sita Sharma, Avneet Kour, Rishu, Prabhleen Kour, Neha Devi, Shallu Mehra and Rashleen Kour.
Asha Rani will accompany the team as manager and Joginder Singh as coach.
