Sadhotra inaugurates 27th Junior Atya Patya National Championship

JAMMU, Aug 3: Minister for Planning, Ajay Sadhotra today inaugurated the 27th Junior (Boys & Girls) Atya Patya National Championship at GGM Science College Jammu.
The championship has been organized by J&K Atya Patya Association in collaboration with Atya Patya Federation of India. The championship will conclude on August 5, 2014.
MLA Hazratbal, Dr Mustafa Kamaal was the guest of honour on the occasion. Principal, GGM Science College, Dr Nutan K Resotra, was also present.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that such championship will boost the morale of the players and provide them opportunity to compete at National and International level. He appreciated the organizers for organizing such championship in the State.
Dr Vinod Bakshi, president, J&K Atya Patya Association, Wasim Raja, senior vice-president, Ajay Sharma, general secretary and others welcomed the chief guest and guest of honour on the occasion.
As many as 20 States are participating in the Championship.
On the first day, Karnataka defeated Manipur by 9-7, 9-7; Chhattisgarh defeated West Bengal by 12-10, 13-11; Karnataka defeated Bihar by 10-8, 9-6; Madhya Pradesh defeated Odisha by 18-11, 34-15; Delhi defeated J&K by 14-12, 12-9; Maharashtra beat Jharkhand by 27-22, 18-13; Jharkhand defeated Haryana by 34-8, 20-9; Rajasthan defeated Chattisgarh by 11-6, 10-6; Tamil Nadu beat Odisha by 23-6, 23-14 and Pondicherry defeated Chhattisgarh by 10-7, 22-18.
Other dignitaries present on the occasion were Dr SM Vali, Ex MLA, Satpal, Arun Bali, Prof Davinder Kumar and Prof Rajesh Gupta.
