JAMMU, Sept 17: Rural Sports Competitions under Rajiv Gandhi Khel Abhiyan were held at Poonch, Samba and Banihal, today.
Two days women sports competition commenced under RGKA at Poonch in the disciplines of hockey, kho kho, kabaddi, volleyball and athletics.
SSP Poonch J.S Johar was the chief guest on the opening ceremony, MLC Poonch Yash Paul Sharma distributed prizes among the winners and runners-up teams.
The competition was organised under overall supervision of Sunil Singh Sambyal, DYSSO Poonch.
The matches were officiated by Jasmeet Kour, Ruchicka Sharma, Narinder Singh, Neeraj Sharma, Sourab Sharma, Rajinder Singh, Gurwinder Singh, Bhupinder Singh, Pawan Kumar and Sanjay Kumar.
The Block Level Rural Sports Competition under Centrally sponsored Scheme Rajiv Gandhi Khel Abhiyan, organized by the Department of Youth Service and Sports in the disciplines of Kabaddi, Kho-Kho and Volleyball and Athletics concluded here at the ground of High Secondary Tethar.
220 players from twelve Panchayats and Block Banihal participated in competition. In Kabaddi, Panchayat Changloo got first position, Panchayat Nowgam won 2nd and Panchayat Tethar 3rd while In Kho-Kho Panchayat Tethar-A Ist, and Panchayat Tethar-B 2nd and Panchayat Krawa 3rd and in Volleyball, Chamalwas secured 1st position, Tethar 2nd and Dooligam 3rd.
In the closing ceremony, medals, trophies and certificates were distributed among the winners by District Industry Officer Ramban Bashir-Ul Hassan, Headmaster H.S Tethar Rasheeda Begum and ZPEO Banihal Romesh Chander.
The competitions were conducted under the supervision of Jarpal Singh, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Ramban.
Inter Block District Level Rural Sports Meet under RGKA for girls category was started at Sports Stadium Samba today. The tournament is being organised by the department of YS&S as a part of annual calendar of sports activities under the patronage of Jahangir Mir, Director General Youth Services & Sports J&K State and the overall supervision of District Youth Services Sports Officer Samba, Subash Chander Bhardwaj. 30 teams comprising of 211 girls from all over the district participated in Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Volleyball and Badminton.
The prizes were distributed by chief guest, Ajit Sharma and BDO Samba Monika Thappa. The conveners of the tournament were ZEPO B.D Sharma, Kranti Khajuria, Ramesh Misra, Vijay Singh Slathia, Raghubir Singh and Pardeep Singh.
