Rs 86 lakh pavilion at Pallama Stadium Akhnoor soon: Sham

AKHNOOR, Aug 23: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Sham Lal Sharma has stressed the need for promoting moral and value based education in the educational institutions in healthy and prosperous society.
The Minister was the chief guest in a symposium on the topic “National Integration and the role of youth” organized by National Development Foundation (NDF) with collaboration of Government Degree College Akhnoor here today.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Sham said that development of art, culture, sports and other activities is the focused area and various measures are listed to help nurture the talent in the field  of extra-curricular activities.
The Minister asked the teaching fraternity to impart quality education to the students to make them valuable assets for the country.
As many as 12 students of various schools including Degree College Akhnoor participated in the symposium.
In the symposium, Sunakshi Sharma stood first, Arun Sharma claimed second spot, while Chetan Sharma and Mansi shared third position.
The Minister also presented mementoes, certificates and cash prize to the positioners, besides cash prize to all the participants.
The Minister announced Rs 5 lakh for construction of play field in the available site at the Degree College. He directed the Secretary Sports Council, Dalip Thusoo to start the projects for the benefits of the students.
Mr Sharma inaugurated Seminar Hall in the premises of Degree College.
Earlier, the Minister also visited Govt HSS Boys and Girls at Akhnoor and inspected the ongoing construction work of Stadia.
Later, the Minister also reviewed the progress of the ongoing construction of pavilion for Pallama Stadium at Akhnoor, for which Government has earmarked Rs 86 lakh. He said the pavilion would be constructed on 4004 sqft area with facilities of changing rooms for male and female, toilet blocks, commentators’ room, retiring room and store.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Chief Engineer PHE, Sushil Aima, SE Hydraulic Rajeev Malhotra, Principal Degree College, Asha Gupta  and Sectoral officers.
