POONCH, Sept 30: Rashtriya Rifles Battalion under Romeo Force organized a volleyball tournament, which concluded at Thanamandi, here today.
The tournament started on September 26, 2015 after preliminary matches which were conducted earlier between 48 local teams from a number of villages in the area to select the best teams which would compete in the volley ball championship.
The aim of the tournament organized by the Army was to encourage the youth of the area to participate in sports activities and channelise the youth in constructive activities which would benefit them in their overall health and growth.
The tournament was finally played between last eight teams from Basoni, Shadhara, Keri, Galuthi, Saaj and Thanamandi villages.
All the teams exhibited enthusiasm, competitive and sportsman spirit. The final match was played between teams from Saaj and Shadhara village, today.
This match was witnessed by local supporters of both teams, in which team from Saaj won the competition and the trophy.
Prizes were given to the Winner and Runners up teams in the presence of the audience of civil dignitaries, villagers and volleyball fans.
