JAMMU, Apr 22: In a historic breakthrough for Jammu & Kashmir, Ritvik Gupta stormed into the final of the U-17 Boys event in the 87th Inter-State Junior & Youth National Table Tennis Championship being held in Dehradun under the aegis of the Table Tennis Federation of India.
Displaying exceptional skill, composure and determination, Ritvik recorded a stunning 3-1 victory over Rank No. 3 Sahil Rawat of Petroleum Sports Promotion Board, creating a landmark moment for J&K table tennis. With this win, he became the first player from the Union Territory to reach the U-17 Boys singles final at the national level. He will now face Sarthak Arya of Odisha in the title clash.
The J&K Table Tennis Association lauded Ritvik’s performance, along with the coaching staff and support team, appreciating their discipline, dedication and hard work on the national stage. The association also credited the continuous support of the J&K Sports Council for this achievement.
Officials stated that the milestone reflects the rising standard of table tennis in Jammu & Kashmir and expressed confidence that the team will continue to perform strongly and bring further laurels to the Union Territory.
