Ritvik, Divyam shine as KC clinches twin title in TT

Young players busy in making moves while competing in Chess Tournament at Indoor Complex in MA Stadium on Thursday.

JAMMU, May 2: Ritvik Gupta, Abhay, Divyam, Ashad and Sudanshu Gupta defeated their rivals convincingly to help KC Public School claim double title in Table Tennis in the District Level Inter-School Tournament in the disciplines of Table Tennis, Badminton, Carrom and Chess, being organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, here.
Earlier, in Table Tennis Under-14 boys, Ritvik trounced Arnav by 11-7, 11-7, Ashank Mahajan lost to Mandeep Singh by 6-11, 4-11, Abhay got better of Ketan Sharma by 11-7, 11-6 and Ritvik beat Mandeep by 11-5, 11-7, while in Under-17 boys, Divyam prevailed over Ishan Gupta by 13-11, 11-4, Ashad drubbed Prateek Sharma by 11-6, 11-5 and Sudanshu Gupta prevailed over Abhishek Dubey by 11-5, 11-7.
Meanwhile, in Badminton Under-17 boys, KC overpowered its rival by (2-0), DPS outplayed APS Nagrota by (2-0), Model Academy outclassed APS Damana by (2-0) and DBN got better of Dreamland by the same margin, while in Badminton Under-14 boys, APS Nagrota trounced MHAC Nagbani by (2-0), Model Academy defeated APS Damana by (2-0) and DPS prevailed over Maharishi Vidya Mandir by the same margin.
In Carrom Under-14 boys, Rohit Kumar and Akshay of Government High School Old Satwari defeated Urjan and Neeraj of MHAC Nagbani in the summit clash to claim the title.
Carrom Under-17 boys title went to Maharishi Vidya Mandir, defeating SRML Higher Secondary School, Jammu in the summit clash.
Meanwhile, in Under-14 boys chess, the winners included Navdeep Singh of DPS, Varinder Singh Chib of KC Public School, Yaksh Chopra of Heritage School, Prabnoor Singh of Jodhamal School and Shashwat Sharma of KV Sunjwan.
According to the organizers, the presentation ceremony will be held at District Youth Services and Sports Office, Gandhi Nagar tomorrow, wherein Director General Youth Services and Sports, Naveen Agarwal, will be the chief guest to distribute the prizes.
Meanwhile, the Department of Youth Services and Sports District Rajouri also organized the Inter-School Tournament of various zones for Under-14 boys, under the overall supervision of Mohd Ayaz Khan, District Youth Services and Sports Officer at Mini Sports Stadium, Rajouri.
In Rajouri zone, High School Thanamandi defeated International Higher Secondary School, Rajouri by 7 points to claim the title, while in volleyball, Army Goodwill Public School Rajouri got better of Middle School Mubarakpura by two sets to one (2-1). Middle School Mubarakpura beat High School Muradpur by six goals to two (6-2) in the handball final, while in kabaddi Under-14 boys final, Middle School Karian trounced Army Goodwill Public School, Rajouri by 12 points.
In Thanamandi zone, High School Rajdhani drubbed Middle School Pathian in kho-kho final, while in volleyball and kabaddi, High School Rajdhani defeated Little High School Rajdhani and High School Dodasanbala in the summit clash respectively.
In Baljarallan zone, Middle School Dhangri, High School Sagote and High School Kalalkass won kho-kho, volleyball and kabaddi titles respectively, while in Peeri zone, kho-kho and volleyball titles were claimed by High School Tarala, while the kabaddi title went to High School Sankari.
In Khawas zone, Middle School Kundal won boys and girls kho-kho titles and Middle School Damlar lifted kabaddi boys title, while in Manjakote zone, Middle School Patrara won kho-kho and kabaddi titles, while High School Panjgarian lifted the volleyball title.
High School Patrara bagged kho-kho and kabaddi titles in Lower-Hathal zone, while High School Barnara won boys volleyball finals.
In Sunderbani zone, Middle School Laman clinched kho-kho and kabaddi titles, while Middle School Kalsian won volleyball and kho-kho titles of Nowshers zone. The kabaddi title of Nowshera zone went to Middle School Nowshera.
Meanwhile, in Dandesar zone, kho-kho title went to Middle School Lameri, while High School Kalal and Middle School Dandesar claimed volleyball and kabaddi titles respectively.
